Services

Children's Writing Club

Runs twice a week for children from grades 3-6. Encourages children to experiment with the writing process building their knowledge of writing strategies and styles. Designed using a combination of The Writing Revolution and Brave Writer techniques. Children who struggle to get words on page and those who love to write will both benefit from these strategies.

Children's Book Club

Runs once a week for two age groups, 8-10 and 11-14. Children will read and discuss a book and participate in activities based on the novel. Bookclub runs during the school term. Zoom options are available upon request.

SPELD QLD Specialist Teacher

I have completed training to become a Speld Qld specialist teacher. This means that I am fully licensed to be able to teach the Sounds-Write Phonics program to individuals, small groups and whole classes. Please contact me for tutoring times as I can be available before and after school as well as provide tutoring at your child's school. My tutoring provides intervention for reading, mathematics and writing. The teaching methods used are explicit, structured and based on scientific, evidence-based strategies, which research suggests produce the best results for all learners particularly those with learning difficulties.

Hi,

My name is Jacinta Obst and I have been a teacher for over 20 years. I have always loved literacy and have been assisting children to improve their reading, writing and spelling most of my life. I have a strong background working in special needs and inclusive learning and am currently a SPELD specialist teacher. I am a fully trained Sounds-Write Phonics tutor and all my programs are based on teaching explicit, structured and evidence-basedstrategies to learners for reading, writing and maths intervention.

I also run writing and book clubs for primary school-aged children where participants can experiment with literacy skills in a safe, fun environment. Groups are run during the day for homeschooled families and after school for everyone.
